Swimming Advances To Day #2 At State Meet; Sets Two School Records

Magnificat Swimming had a good first day at the OHSAA Division I State Meet at CT Branin Natatorium in Canton.

Advancing to the Championship Finals are the 200 Medley Relay (Alana Cartwright ’17, Grace Monroe ’18, Kathryn Presley ’18, Taryn Zwissler ’17) currently in 7th place with a time of 147.49 (New School Record).  Zwissler also advances to the Championship Finals in the 100 Backstroke with a swim of 56.88 (New School Record) which places her 6th after the day.

Qualifying for the Consolation Finals are the 400 Freestyle Relay (Alana Cartwright ’17, Grace Monroe ’18, Julia Pophal ’16, Taryn Zwissler ’17) currently in 13th place with a time of 335.02 & Cartwright in the 100 Breaststroke with a swim of 106.22 which puts her in 14th place after the day.

Cartwright in the 100 Butterfly as well as Monroe & Zwissler in the 50 Freestyle also competed today in the preliminaries, but they did not qualify into the next round.
